In 38 states in America, it is completely legal to be fired simply because you are transgender.

As someone wrote in an mentioned earlier, some cities, counties, and companies have specific protections for trans* individuals that are not guaranteed by the state. Still, the fact that trans* people so often lack state protection is appalling.
